Christmas Cards and donation to Colchester First Responders
As Aardvark Travel do every year, we will not be sending out Christmas cards, instead, we will be donating £30 to a worthy cause. This year we have chosen to support the team from Colchester Community First Responders. Richard’s father Dennis Ford and his brother Martin Ford give up their spare time for this and they have saved lives and helped numerous people but they are in real need for funding to continue this voluntary service. They will be in Colchester High Street tomorrow, December 3rd so if you see them please say hello and give what you can. Hopefully my friends you will never need their services but it’s good to know they are out there.
Community first responders are volunteers who are trained by the NHS to attend certain types of emergency calls in the area where they live or work.
Their aim is to reach a potential life threatening emergency in the first vital minutes before the ambulance crew arrives.
Their role is to help stabilise the patient and provide the appropriate care until the more highly skilled ambulance crew arrives on scene to take over the treatment.

Christmas in London is so exciting and there are tons of Christmas Markets to choose from. It was a tough decision to pick only one in London so we’ve narrowed it down to two.
Southbank Centre Winter Market – November 14 – December 30 at Royal Festival Hall Riverside.
We can personally vouch for this one as we went there last year (day off work of course) and enjoyed the Rekorderlig Lounge, open fire pits and Swedish meatballs. This year you’ll be able to enjoy mulled wine in one of the cosy bars and apparently there is going to be a Finnish sauna on the roof terrace! If mulled wine is not for you then you can enjoy a hot chocolate overlooking the Thames, or get away from the cold and visit the Scandinavian Rooftop Bar and relax with a warming Nordic drink.

Hyde Park Winter Wonderland – November 17 – Jan 1
Well what can we say about this one?! If you haven’t yet visited then you definitely need to, this year. We make this a priority every year and are often dropping our customers to Hyde Park Winter Wonderland. Why do we love this Christmas Market so much? Because there’s something for everyone. Not only are there over 200 bavarian style chalets selling Christmas souvenirs and decorations, food, treats and drinks, there’s also a host of Christmas activities and attractions to enjoy too! There’s shows, ice skating, live music, fairground rides including a
Giant Observation Wheel, circus and a new addition to this year is the private Bar Hutte’s where you and your group can get served food and drink and enjoy ‘Carol-oke’ in your own private area.
Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre – November 23 – 26
We’ve never been to this one but we’ve heard some great reviews. If any of our customers have been we’d love to know your thoughts!? We’ve added this one to our bucket list as there’s so much going on and it’s only up the road from us!
There are over 300 stalls, historical stalls in Moyse’s Hall Museum, a Christmas Bazaar in St Edmundbury Cathedral and the traditional street market. Perfect place for Christmas Shopping!
There’s lots of entertainment too! Over the four days, there are 3 different locations offering entertainment – The Green King Stage on Angel Hill, The Hart Stage in The Traverse and the performance area in St John’s Street. Bury St Edmunds based ICE Cook School will be running the ICE Cookery Theatre showcasing live cookery demonstrations by a number of local and nationally renowned chefs.
